We believe transparency about costs is part of the method. Below is how our pricing works — no fake price lists, because every case is different, but no secrets about how we arrive at the figure.

All amounts are exclusive of VAT. Where an engagement falls within the hourly range depends on its complexity and risk: desk-based document research sits at the lower end, field observation in difficult conditions at the upper end. The applicable rate is always defined in the quote, before the engagement — never afterwards.
Corporate training is charged at a flat rate that includes the preparation of training materials.
Out-of-pocket expenses incurred for the engagement are charged separately, at cost and documented in the final report:
Every engagement starts with a free written quote, prepared after the initial confidential interview and valid for 30 days. The quote states the applicable hourly rate, the estimated hours, foreseeable expenses and the required advance payment.
As set out in our terms of service, an engagement is only concluded upon signature of the mandate by both parties and payment of the advance, the amount of which is fixed and defined in the mandate itself according to the type of engagement.
Hours are invoiced on actuals: if the investigation closes earlier than expected, you pay only for the hours actually worked, itemised in the final report.

Why don't you publish a fixed price list per service? Because it would be dishonest. A debtor trace can take two hours or two weeks: any "package price" would either be inflated to protect us, or unrealistic to attract you. A transparent hourly range plus a written quote is the fairest system for both sides.
Is the initial assessment charged? No: the initial exchange by email is free and exploratory. It serves to understand whether we can help you and does not constitute the start of an engagement.
What happens if the case turns out to be unsolvable? We tell you as soon as we realise it, and we stop billing. Charging for hours that lead nowhere is in no one's interest — least of all our reputation's.
